Building Physics introduces fundamental principles governing environmental performance in buildings. The course explores climate-responsive design, solar radiation, heat transfer, building envelope performance, moisture and condensation, thermal comfort, ventilation, daylighting, artificial lighting, and basic room acoustics. Students develop analytical skills to understand environmental phenomena and translate them into architectural design strategies. The course emphasizes foundational quantitative reasoning appropriate for first-year architecture students.
