The Customary Law course is a compulsory course for the Faculty of Law Study Program in the odd semester. This course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the existence of customary law as a living and developing source of law in Indonesian society. The course covers the definition and terminology of customary law, the status and function of customary law communities, the division of customary law, and the material content within each field. In addition, students are also invited to analyze the phenomenon of legal pluralism and its relevance to the development of national law, including case studies related to customary criminal law, land disputes within indigenous communities (with a focus on the Lampung indigenous community), and issues of indigenous community empowerment. Thus, this course not only provides a theoretical foundation but also fosters students' critical awareness in observing the reality of customary law in society.
