This course aims to prepare the students to have a broader perspective on assessment in language teaching, to equip the students to have awareness and responsibility as educators and evaluator. The course contains the description of concept of assessment in English Teaching (ET Assessment) which is important for prospective English teachers as classroom teachers writing for particular class or the test constructor writing for an examination board. It provides learners some basic concepts of ET Assessment; this includes the criteria for a good test, the distinction between testing and evaluation, and some insights of authentic assessment (alternative assessment) as required the 2013 curriculum.
It contains detailed guidance on how to write, administer, and score test questions. It outlines general principles of ET Assessment, and describes how different types of test questions can be applied to different language tests. It also deals with working to use computer program to validate test or instrument (iteman).
