The Communication English course for students of the Diploma III Mechanical Engineering Study Program is a supporting course designed to equip students with practical English communication skills for academic, professional, and technical contexts. Through this course, students are introduced to basic English expressions used in daily communication, workplace interaction, technical presentations, simple writing, and mechanical engineering-related terminology. This course does not only focus on grammar mastery, but also on the ability to use English appropriately in different situations. Students are trained to introduce themselves, express opinions, ask and answer questions, understand work instructions, describe tools and mechanical processes, and deliver simple oral or written reports. These skills are important because Mechanical Engineering graduates are expected to work in environments where English is often used in machine manuals, standard operating procedures, equipment catalogues, technical documents, and professional communication. In vocational education, Communication English plays an important role in preparing students for industrial demands. Students are expected not only to understand general vocabulary, but also to use English to support technical activities, such as reading machine instructions, understanding safety signs, explaining maintenance procedures, and communicating in basic workplace situations. Therefore, this course provides an essential foundation for students to become more confident, adaptive, and competitive in the workplace. Overall, the Communication English course helps Diploma III Mechanical Engineering students develop practical, professional, and field-relevant communication skills. By improving their English proficiency, students are expected to broaden their knowledge, strengthen their presentation skills, understand technical references, and support their competence as future associate experts in mechanical engineering.
