1. Yes, The delivery of the first chapter is delivered with past experiences of the main character, Tara. There's in the first paragraph, where the main character (Tara) recalls the memory of her life when she was five years old. The setting, Tara's family residence is in the mountains and surrounded by forest. Also her house which has a yellow color, a warehouse near her house. And then, various seasons such as summer or winter that occurs in her environment.
2. I think Tara's father can be said a father who cares and loves his children. However, the choices or thoughts that her father said regarding that school was a dangerous place because the government could wash brain his children. That maybe it's not quite right and not open minded. Because, not all of the outside world is dangerous.
3. I think, the father. Because his father is explained the most by main character and the attitude of her father which can be said to be confusing and strange. And had an important influence on Tara's future path.

1. The first chapter delivered the past experience of the character quite clearly. Like when she no longer drank milk because of his father's 'belief' that milk was an evil 'choice', when she and her sibling were not allowed to go to school but instead canning peaches as food supplies, until the moment when her grandma wanted to take her out of the house and go to Arizona. The setting of place and time are also explained clearly, as for example in the beginning, the author wrote directly that the incident occurred when she was five and was live in the mountain of Idaho.
2. Rather than decided the right or not, I think Tara's father just wants to believe what he believes (about his belief), even though we don't know how her father's life was before. However, in the book, it is explained that the father, who is used to living in the mountains and away from settlements and society, could be one of the reasons why her father has such ancients thoughts that he considers what he has decided is the right one.
3. For me, the father. Because from the start all decisions is in the father hands. For example, the father's decision to not to allowing his children to go to school, it almost affects all the character introduced at this chapter. Like Tara who became indecisive, there was anxiety and fear of going to school. The grandmother is also affected by the decision, which causes the grandmother to try to take Tara out of the house without his permission.

1. The first chapter was delivered very well, although I was a little confused whether this was just the protagonist's imagination or actually happened, and it turned out to be a true story. This chapter explains the protagonist's past when she lived with her family near the mountains surrounded by forest. This chapter also explained that none of their families go to school, which makes them not have general knowledge and only believe what their father says who always does things based on the bible.

2. No, because he relied too much on the bible to do anything. But he still puts the safety of his family first, in fact he always tells very horrible stories to his family so that they stay at home and not trust the government.

3. In my opinion, her father is a very influential character, because her family didn't go to school which makes them didn't have general knowledge, which ultimately makes them depend on their father's words. Her family also really believed their father's words, they stopped drinking milk because it was considered evil, they even didn't go to school because it was thought that it would brainwash them and make them far from God.

1. In the first chapter, the explanation is quite clear and here it tells about the childhood of the character, Tara and her family. The setting is also clearly shown, Tara and her family live near the mountains and their house is yellow.
2. I think Tara's father just wanted to protect his daughter, but the way he did it was a little off. The outside world is cruel, but as long as we can fortify ourselves, everything will be fine. I think Tara's dad should start opening his mind about the outside world.
3. The father. Almost all the pages in this first chapter are discussed about him. Her father's thoughts and viewpoints are discussed a lot here, so I think her father is the most influential character in this chapter.

1. The first chapter heavily talking about Tara's past experience. In the opening of the first chapter, Tara says she had a memory when she was five. The setting place, Tara's house is on Idaho's mountain, as she mentioned about her grandpa was too old for Idaho winters.
2. I think Tara's father decided the wrong think. Because school isn't an obstacle to learning religion. Her father could send Tara to a private school and on sunday Tara goes to sunday school to worship. It was win win solution, but her father wouldn't agree because he really believe in his beliefs and relied on the Bible to do anything.
3. According to my understanding, Tara's Father is the most influential character in this chapter. Because he managed to make his daughter not want to come to school. Although her grandma is also given a lot of explanation, but her actions haven't been seen. So, it doesn't have much effect on this chapter.

1. In the first chapter, everything is delivered clearly and in detail. The writer was also talking about her experience at the beginning. For setting, everything is explained in detail. So when we read this chapter, we will feel like into the story only by reading and imagining it.
2. In my opinion, what Tara’s father did is not all wrong. He didn’t allow his children to go to school because he was afraid that the government will brainwash the children so that his children can't read and know the place other than their home environment.
3. I think it is her father. It is because the writer more explain about her father. Start from his belief, his father's point of view, and the decision made by her father so that the children must obey their father.

1. First chapter told most of writer's childhood and how her family did their everyday life like family's routine. In early chapter, the writer clearly told her age turned six when her grandma decided to take her to Arizona and enrolled in public school. The idea to send Tara and her all siblings never come to her father's belief and that'll be a further issues inside her family. Further, it also talked about her house and the place where writer's home was stated in a dialogue by her Grandma and Grandpa. They lived in Idaho, particularly at the base of Buck's Peak; besides both of her grandparent lived in Arizona. Other hand, we'll meet some family's tradition in writer's life like having breakfast and an evening Bible's section. Writer described how they sat around a large table of reworked red oak and ate either seven-grain cereal, with honey and molasses, or seven-pancakes.

2. Actually Tara's father has a right aim to just keep his children from evil world. However, Tara's father was a rigid person and has a wrong perception about school. His strong belief into his religion just brought him to not trust anymore about which kind of public school. Meanwhile I believe we'd get better education in school to whatever the end purposes and tara's father thougt only prohibited his children to have a view and think wider. And they just can't escape from this circumstance, indeed.

3. I surely say Tara's father. It's because most of first chapter showed dominant side of her father e.g. how her father look like, how he did his activity, until his belief towards life and education. The doctrine that was grown in his family is the main thing that may become futher problem and a big decision in the Tara's story life.

1. Yes, the delivery of the first chapter about the character's past experience, because it was said at the beginning of the chapter that the memory was formed when she was 5 years old. The settings are explained clearly.
2. I think maybe the father's intention was for the good of his daughter, but that's a little inaccurate considering a lot of things are too exaggerated about the father's thinking.
3. I think the father, because as Tara said that her father is able to command, so I think it is the father who influences the lives of Tara and her siblings more.

1. The first chapter delivers about a memory that is in Tara's memory of a story told by her father. In the part where his father tells a story that makes his sister and sister amazed, by remembering the past or memories that turn out to be as if it had happened.
2. I think, Tara's father in the first chapter does look like a cruel father who doesn't allow his children to go to school, but he is a really protective father of his family. Seems religious but he swallows the teachings of his religion raw without thinking carefully about its truth, so he decides on the right thinking without weighing it.
3. In my opinion, the most influential character in the first chapter is the father, because the father has many roles in providing religious teachings in his family, so that each page of the story, the father character is discussed the most in the first chapter.

1. Yes, it is. The first chapter is delivered by narrating past events as explained at the beginning that Tara recalled an incident that happened to her when she was 5 years old. The setting of the story is Tara's family house on a mountain surrounded by forest.
2. After reading the first chapter, I can tell that the father's intentions are good and he just wants to care for and protect his family but the method he uses is not right.
3. I think, the father is the most influential character in the chapter because his father holds an important role in his family and his father has full power over the decisions of every member in the family.

1. I think it is told from a past experience because how it use past tenses and I can understand that the story is a background/flashback about the main character life continuously from kid to adult.
2. As far as I read, I think we can agree that we don't really like this kind of character who is too rules based, close-minded or basically conservative. But, this kind of personality on parents are meant to protect their children, and I found it on a lot of father figures. Tara's father actually has a good reason and intention but the way he delivered it made him looks bad.
3. Personally, the father. The dictator, bible-oriented person who has a strong belief as the family-holder definitely the one who decide everything in their life (Tara's and her surroundings)

1. I think, the writer delivers the story clearly and quite detail. Yes, the writer told her past story when she was 5 years old at the beginning of this chapter. The setting majority takes place at her house that is surrounded by mountains and forest.

2. In my opinion, Tara's father is kind of strict parent that has a really high ego that he also makes some rules that must be obeyed by his children no matter it is right or not. And I think his decision is not right, but his intention to protect his family is contrary. His action that seems so fanatic with his belief and idea is quite too much because sometimes it doesn't make any sense.

3. Honestly, it is the father. Because he is the dominant in this story so far and he is the majority reason behind the obstacle in this story and the development of the characters, including Tara.
