It provides an overview of how financial markets operate and how investors allocate capital across various financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.

Students will examine the structure and functions of capital markets, including the role of stock exchanges, financial intermediaries, regulators, and investors in facilitating the flow of funds from surplus units to deficit units within the economy. Particular attention is given to the operation of the Indonesian capital market through the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

The course emphasizes the application of both fundamental analysis and technical analysis in evaluating investment opportunities. Students will learn how to analyze publicly listed companies using financial statement analysis and financial ratios, including liquidity, profitability, leverage, and efficiency ratios, in order to assess corporate performance and determine the intrinsic value of stocks.

In addition, the course introduces the principles of technical analysis, where students learn to interpret market behavior through price movements, trading volume, and chart patterns to identify potential trading opportunities in the stock market.

The course also covers key investment concepts such as risk and return, portfolio diversification, capital asset pricing, and investment strategies. Students will explore how investors manage investment risk, construct diversified portfolios, and optimize investment performance.

Through case studies, market analysis, and practical exercises, students will develop the ability to interpret financial and market information, analyze stock performance, and make informed investment decisions within the context of the Indonesian capital market.
