Theory of Translation

The "Theory of Translation" course examines the theoretical foundations of translation, encompassing the nature, concepts, principles, and approaches in translation studies. Students will study various classical and contemporary translation theories, ranging from linguistic and functional approaches to post-structuralist theories, that influence translation practice. Furthermore, this course encourages students to analyze the role of culture, ideology, and social context in the translation process and their implications for the quality of the translation. Through critical analysis, students are expected to be able to connect theory with translation practice in various text fields academically and professionally.
