This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to refine their written and verbal English communication skills for workplace by developing their ability to communicate in English in a wide range of professional situations. In this course, students are required to learn basic concepts of grammar and social practices as they focus on practical skills for workplace and public communication.
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:
1. understand professional communication in English in various situations
2. use both formal and informal register appropriately
3. choose accurate grammatical structures to express a desired meaning
4. identify writing mistakes they make in terms of grammar, punctuation, and style
5. demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary and natural expression in English closely related to a variety of business topics and concepts such as academic correspondence, social interaction, English presentations, E-mail and commercial correspondence, and English for writing research papers
6. deliver a formal oral presentation that is understood by a majority of the audience.
