This course provides the students with the concepts of pragmatics, a branch of linguistics, the history of pragmatics, and the coverage of pragmatics. This course also gives opportunities for the students to observe how the English language is used, identify the features, and compare them with the theory of pragmatics. By doing so, the students are expected to possess a pragmatic competence and this will likely make them able to communicate in English appropriately according to the context and implement this competence to be a good English teacher.
